ABOUT
Phoenix & Wegener met at various gigs but their last meeting in Berlin 2024 solidified their curiosity to work together. They are recording a new original album, CINEMATIC LOVE which has 9-tracks and they released a memento of their first time playing together DEMOLITION (4-track demos).
Their first jam session, DEMOLITION, was recorded live in Sydney by Bruce Callaway in January 2025 on return from Europe. It is to be released as physical copy on compact disc.
Recently they have played as a full band with Jeff Hooker (Kim Salmon) on bass, Osker Bickford (Brian Henry Hooper) guitar, Jack Bronwyn Henderson (Mick Harvey) violin.
Wegener has played all over the planet with Ed Kuepper, The Saints, The Birthday Party and many more.
Phoenix previously collaborated with Mark Plati (David Bowie, Lou Reed) on her previous European release 'The Glorious Dead.’ The vinyl LP is available through Beast Records in France and via the Belle Phoenix bandcamp page.
In Europe, Phoenix played various shows through covid19. In Berlin Chris Hughes of Crime & the City Solution joined on drums along with Maria Zastrow (Kid Congo, Blixa Bargeld, Nick Cave etc.)
Back home in Melbourne, Australia, they formed a trio supporting Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) & Amanda Acevedo.
Wegener and Phoenix first met at the Hopetoun Hotel when he played with the Tren Brothers with Damo Susuki supporting. They ran into each other again at the last show Rowland S. Howard played on Cockatoo Island, Sydney Australia. All Tomorrows Parties festival curated by Nick Cave.
